Thomas Edward Aukland was the oldest son of Thomas (1862-1930) and Emma (née Jerram, 1862-1950) Aukland, who had an older son, William George (b. 1889) and 3 daughters: Annie Elizabeth (b. 1887), Mary Constance (b. 1897) and Lilian Emma (b. 1901). Between 1901 and 1911 he was living with his family at 6 Moor End; in 1911 he is described as farmer's son, working on the farm.
Brother William also served, commemorated at the Liberal Club.
